BCU Foundation Safety & Rescue Course
The Foundation Safety and Rescue Training is a course designed to
cover fundamental techniques for any paddler, assistant or trainee
coach.
Throughout the day you will learn a wide range of skills to help you deal with a situation on the water and help you to paddle safely! At the end of the day you can put your new skills into action with scenarios to deal with.
Use this either as a way of keeping you, your family or friends safe or as one of the pre-requisites before taking part in a UKCC / BCU Level One Coach Course.

Entry to Paddlesport Coaching
This intensive two day package is for people looking to become a
Paddlesport Coach. Prior to starting this course you need to have
gained further experience in both canoe and kayak beyond passing
British Canoe Union One Star Award.
The course provides you with high quality coaching covering all the experience and skills required for the British Canoe Union 2 Star Award and Foundation Safety & Rescue Certificate. These are pre-requisites to train as a Paddlesport coach.
Once you have passed these awards you can attend a UKCC / BCU Level One Coach Course.

BCU 4 Star Leader
Canoe
Training & Assessment
Successful performance at this level indicates that you have the
skill level required to lead a group of 4 competent paddlers in
appropriate locations, up to "moderate conditions" (for
open canoe this is grade 2 white water and open water with winds
up to force 4). The award shows that you can judge the conditions
and the standard of the group to make appropriate decisions, understanding
the need to modify plans when required.
The 4 Star Leader Award is a leadership award and not a coaching award. It is not suitable for introducing beginners to the sport.

White Water Kayak
Training & Assessment

UKCC/BCU Level 1 Paddlesport Coach
This is the first step on the coaching ladder, introducing you to
the core aspects of good coaching. As a level 1 coach, you can assist
higher level coaches, deliver sessions under supervision and provide
taster sessions.
In addition to attending the course you will need to ensure that by the end of it, you are over the age of 16yrs, have a BCU 2 Star Award, a BCU Foundation and Rescue Certificate, as well as registration (CR form) with the BCU.

UKCC/BCU Level 2 Paddlesport Coach Training
This course focuses on the coaching process, enabling you to plan,
deliver and review high quality ongoing sessions to other paddlers
in a sheltered water environment. As a Level 2 Coach, you can also
supervise Level 1 Coaches and assess students up to 2 Star.
To take part, you need to be over 17yrs, have a Level 1 qualification (or an old scheme Level 2), have a BCU 3 Star, Foundation Safety & Rescue Certificate, a 8hr first aid certificate, BCU comprehensive membership and a stamped CR form.
