Extraordinary Adventures with Elements

. . . scientific evidence identifies strong correlations between experience in the natural world and children’s ability to learn, along with their physical and emotional health. Stress levels, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, cognitive functioning are all positively affected by time spent in nature.
Louv 2009 (Richard Louv – author of ‘Last Child in the Woods’)

Schools Intervention Programme

Students who struggle in the classroom benefit most of all from a really extraordinary outdoor learning adventure.

SchoolsElements Extraordinary Adventures provide schools with a sequence of outdoor sessions carefully designed to support vulnerable or under-achieving students to re-engage with the learning process. We incorporate elements of bush-craft, outdoor cooking, canoeing and navigation to ensure an experience which is challenging, educational and rewarding.

Our tried and tested package delivers good value and a hassle free service for schools:

  • Five full school day sessions over consecutive weeks.
  • The school selects seven students who will benefit from this targeted intervention. We do the rest.

Our team of teachers and youth workers are all highly qualified outdoor practitioners with many years’ experience of working with challenging and vulnerable young people. No additional staffing is required from the school (although colleagues are most welcome to attend any or all of the sessions).

Starting and finishing from the school we provide all equipment, outdoor clothing and transport throughout.

We ensure that risk assessments and insurance are in place.

Personalised certificates are provided promptly at the conclusion of the project when they will have maximum impact in celebrating achievement.

In addition, we can offer a final over-night expedition, which has been found to deliver huge gains in motivation and achievement.
