Form a plan together – follow advice and instructions.
DO
- Remain calm, factual, supportive + practical
- Look after the welfare of the group. Keep them in the safest possible place, briefed and supervised
- Keep in touch with home contact
- Keep a written note at the time and a full report within 24 hours
DO NOT
- Put yourself in danger
- Abandon the group
- Speak to press or media – refer to home contact
- Allow group to ‘phone out'
- Admit liability
- Allow anyone to speak to a group member without independent
witness.
No one (except in a bona fide emergency or official capacity) has the right to see or speak to anyone who doesn’t want to see them.
