Form a plan together – follow advice and instructions.

DO

  • Remain calm, factual, supportive + practical
  • Look after the welfare of the group. Keep them in the safest possible place, briefed and supervised
  • Keep in touch with home contact
  • Keep a written note at the time and a full report within 24 hours

DO NOT

  • Put yourself in danger
  • Abandon the group
  • Speak to press or media – refer to home contact
  • Allow group to ‘phone out'
  • Admit liability
  • Allow anyone to speak to a group member without independent witness.
    No one (except in a bona fide emergency or official capacity) has the right to see or speak to anyone who doesn’t want to see them.
